Gift Guide: #5 From Sofia Kaman in our 12 Days of Gifts For The Holidays Series
Part of our Gift Guide…and our Ringing in The New Year series of designer and antique rings, museum exhibits, films and how to wear rings
Whether shopping in her light, airy boutique on the bustling artistic and fashionably creative hub of Abbot Kinney in Venice CA or her inviting online boutique, It’s difficult to leave Sofia Kaman Jewels without purchasing one of her soulful bohemian and organic takes on antique or vintage rings or one of the authentic antique pieces she travels the globe to find. Kaman, a designer and collector knows how to stack, layer and bring the best of the past into the present with a rough-hewn femininity and a curatorial eye.
“I’ve always loved a good ring stack and this holiday season is no exception. I’ve chosen a group of bands that can be given and worn altogether but also make a statement when worn separately or with rings you already own.” Says Kaman. She also has the fifth day of Christmas covered with her ‘five golden rings’
“The Woven Branches Band can definitely stand on it’s own or be combined with a variety of different types of stacks. In addition, this ring looks good on a diverse demographic. We initially designed it as a men’s wedding band, but found that women were purchasing it for themselves and so we offer it in yellow and white gold and platinum.”
“The Tiny Forget-Me-Not Band is sweet and petite and is crafted as delicate twig band with five turquoise petals to brighten up your day and act as an everyday reminder of those close to your heart. Definitely a ring you might want to leave hints for your loved one to pick up on.”
“The Turquoise-set Vintage-Inspired Ring with Diamond Accent adds a cheerful accent to every collection. One twinkling diamond mixes in with a row of eight lively turquoise cabochons, creating a lux boho vibe and offers a touch of whimsy. A must-have stacking ring for the woman who appreciates mixing a bunch of vintage-inspired bands, contemporary styles and/or genuine antiques from our selection or in her personal collection.”
“One of our Diamond Eternity Bands always makes a welcome addition to any stack. I love throwing in a white gold option in the middle of an all yellow stack- it really brightens things up! This band is our tiniest version and its low profile blends beautifully with other dainty bands. It is also the perfect stand alone ring with someone with thin slender finger who wears a small size.”
“ Scouting for all of the antique treasures which is my passion has lead to a wish list that is never-ending. But to make it easy for my husband, I have chosen this beauty of a ring! I have a weakness for early enamel pieces, from the Victorian through Art Nouveau periods and this ring totally satisfies that craving! Crafted in 18K gold and Swiss enamel, this perfectly intact language of flowers ring is a romantic collector’s dream! A motif of a pansy- the symbol of keeping a loved one in your thoughts- is framed in gold and creates the top of a secret compartment, in which to keep a tiny photo or message. The rarity, theme and uniqueness of this piece all contribute to ‘must have’ quality for this holiday season. Hopefully, my clues to my hubby will not be lost and the lucky lady to receive it will be me.”
